Increasing Sustainability & Decreasing Environmental Footprint

Corporate Environmental Initiatives

Burns & Scalo takes significant measures to decrease our environmental footprint. From company-wide recycling programs, to investing in renewable energy, as well as modifying our businesses processes to reduce consumption, our goal is to create a culture of corporate and personal commitment towards sustainability and green practices.

Burns & Scalo Roofing's headquarters features one of the most advanced sustainable projects in the Mid-Atlantic. The building includes the installation of multiple solar technologies, vegetative green roofing, and advanced daylighting. This project, called Sunscape, not only significantly reduces the carbon footprint of the facility, it is being studied by universities as a way to enhance green building for generations to come.

Class-G Facilities

In addition to our corporate environmentally-friendly initiatives, Burns & Scalo's Headquarters in Pittsburgh is a Class-G® Facility.

Class-G® is a building certification that measures our commitment to sustainable practices. The program enables us to benchmark our facilities today, and provides us the framework to increase and improve our sustainable management practices for years to come. In many ways, this is green beyond the building.

Being Class-G® is yet another demonstration of our leadership in sustainability. We try our best to manage sustainably, because it's the right thing to do and we believe the market also prefers it.
