Born to the roofing business, Jack F. Scalo has turned a recognized and respected residential roofing company in the Pittsburgh region into a multi-faceted organization that serves the commercial and residential markets in nine states from offices in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Ohio.
As President of Burns & Scalo Roofing Company, Mr. Scalo oversees five subsidiaries that provide commercial and flat roofing, sheet metal roofing, steep slope residential roofing, repair and maintenance services and waterproofing and moisture protection to clients.
Mr. Scalo graduated cum laude with a degree in business from Ohio University in 1981, and spent a year as an executive with Sigma Chi fraternity before joining Burns & Scalo Roofing Co., a company owned by his father, John T. Scalo, and partner Richard “Duke” Burns.

In 1994, he became president of the Burns & Scalo Roofing Company in recognition of his leadership in expanding the company into commercial roofing and other services. Since then, Burns & Scalo Roofing has grown from a
$2 million company to one that generates more than $20 million in annual revenues and employs several hundred people.
Mr. Scalo is active in professional, community and charitable organizations.
He has served on the board of the Associated Builders & Contractors of Western Pennsylvania (ABC), and is a member of the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA), the Roofing Contractors Association of Western Pennsylvania (RCAWP), Roof Connect, the Ohio Roofing Contractors Association, the Carolina Roofing & Sheet Metal Contractors Association,
and the Better Business Bureau.
He also is a member of the boards of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Marshall Elevator and the Young President’s Association.
Mr. Scalo is associated at a strategic and investment level with Burns & Scalo Real Estate where his twin brother, James, is president.
Mr. Scalo is married and the father of two children and resides in
PIttsburgh, PA.
