Modified Bitumen
(1) A bitumen modified by including one or more polymers; (2) composite sheets consisting of a polymer modified bitumen often reinforced with various types of mats or films and sometimes
surfaced with films, foils or mineral granules.

Types:
SBS—styrene butadiene styrene
APP—Atactic polypropylele

 

Single Ply
A roofing system in which the principal roof covering is a single layer flexible membrane.

Types:

EPDM—single-ply rubber system
1. fully adhered
2. mechanically fastened
3. ballasted

TPO—thermoplastic oelfin – heat welded, usually white

PVC—polyvinyl chloride

 

Built-up (Bur)
A continuous, semi-flexible roof membrane, consisting of multiple plies of saturated felts, coated felts, fabrics. Or mats assembled in place with alternate layers of butimen, and surfaced with mineral aggregate, bituminous materials, a liquid applied coating or granule-surfaced cap sheet.
