History
The Beginning
The Burns & Scalo partnership began over five decades ago in 1956, when John T. Scalo and Richard "Duke" Burns shared a common vision: to be the very best at whatever they did. Beginning as a two-man residential roofing company, Burns & Scalo quickly grew into a successful operation in the Pittsburgh region.
As the company prospered, the partners began to invest in real estate beginning with small, single-and-double-unit apartment buildings.
Realizing the potential growth of both the roofing business and real estate enterprise, two distinct corporate entities were formed: Burns & Scalo Roofing Company, Inc. and Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc.
The Next Generation of Growth for Burns & Scalo
These two highly successful companies were eventually turned over to second generation twin brothers, Jack Scalo (President of Burns & Scalo Roofing) and Jim Scalo (President of Burns & Scalo Real Estate Services, Inc.).
Both Burns & Scalo companies have extended their core service offerings to be two of the most unique and comprehensive companies in their respective industries. With Jack and Jim at the helms, the Burns & Scalo companies have prospered and grown to employ over 250 Team Members.
